How to Transform Your Spring Sign into a Summer Sign<\/span><\/h1>\n

Summer is just around the corner, and what better way to welcome it than with a unique sign for your door.<\/p>\n

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to transform simple Dollar Tree signs, originally designed for spring, into a charming sign that welcomes summer with a “Welcome SUMMER” message. (VIDEO OF THIS TUTORIAL<\/a> )<\/p>\n

Materials needed<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

Dollar Tree signs from the spring season
\nAcrylic Paint<\/a>
\nWashi tape<\/a>
\nFoam Sheets<\/a>
\nPopsicle Wooden Sticks<\/a>
\nLetters Stickers\u00a0<\/a>
\nSponge or Brush<\/a>
\nNatural Jute Cord<\/a>
\nGlue Gun<\/a>
\nGlue Sticks<\/a><\/p>\n

Step by Step Tutorial<\/span><\/h2>\n

Remove any decoration or adhesive from the spring signs on the part you are going to use. In this case, we will use the back side, so we will just remove the hanging cord.<\/p>\n

Using the back of each sign, cut strips of Washi tape and apply them creating a pattern of lines. This step will add a decorative touch to the background of the sign.<\/p>\n

Make sure that the Washi tape is well adhered to the surface as you will be painting these areas and for a good result it is important that the Washi tape is stuck in all its areas to achieve a professional finish.<\/p>\n

We will use them this way. Both signs horizontally and we will only use the back side. Well, both signs are ready with their Washi tape to paint them.<\/p>\n

Proceed to paint the stripes that were exposed with Waverly Ivory acrylic<\/a> paint or the color of your choice. This paint will act as the background for the new design.<\/p>\n

Apply two coats of paint to achieve a better finish. Remember to wait for drying between coats.<\/p>\n

While the paint layers are drying, proceed to the creation of the ice creams, for this you will use foam sheets.<\/p>\n

Use a paper to cut it into the shape of an ice cream and use it as a mold.<\/p>\n

Cut each of the shapes traced on the different colors of the foam sheets or if you prefer to make all the ice creams of a single color, you can do it and it also looks very nice.<\/p>\n

Take three wooden sticks and cut them in half. You will use these pieces to glue them on the back of the ice creams.<\/p>\n

On each ice cream, place a letter until the 6 ice creams together spell the word “SUMMER”.<\/p>\n

Now we are going to join both signs by giving support from the back using wooden sticks and hot glue.<\/p>\n

Use letter stickers to create the word “WELCOME” at the top of the sign. Make sure the letters are aligned and well glued for a clean and legible appearance.<\/p>\n

And below the word WELCOME, start gluing ice cream by ice cream to form the word SUMMER.<\/p>\n

To hang it, add a jute cord or thin rope from one corner to the other, and to secure that cord, you can use pieces of wooden sticks, glue a piece, then place the end of the cord on it and repeat the same on the other end taking in consideration the length of the cord according to how you want it to look or the place where you are going to hang it. You can also drill the sign and tie the cords.<\/p>\n

Add any decorative element in the original holes of the signs from which you removed the hanging rope. I used dots from the same sticker pack as the letters of the ice creams and they seemed perfect because they looked like screws.<\/p>\n

To decorate the part where your sign will hang, add a decorative bow (this is optional).<\/p>\n

Finally, hang your new summer sign on the front door of your home and get ready to welcome summer with style and creativity!<\/p>\n

(Note: This sign is for doors that have some roof that protects it from the rain as the materials are not waterproof)<\/p>\n
