HEART GARLAND FOR VALENTINE’S DECOR

Creating garlands is a delightful and creative way to breathe life into seasonal decor or simply add a festive touch to any special occasion.

In this tutorial, I’ll take you on a crafting journey where you’ll discover how to craft a beautiful garland of hearts and tassels, perfect for celebrating Valentine’s Day and infusing a romantic ambiance into your decor.

This project not only offers an exciting opportunity to explore your creative side but also allows you to craft personalized decor that reflects your style and love for craftsmanship.

So, get ready to dive into this crafting adventure and bring to life a garland that will captivate hearts and fill your space with joy during this special season.

Materials Needed:
Yarn
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
X-acto knife
Piece of cardboard
Pencil
Glue gun

Step by Step Tutorial- HEART GARLAND FOR VALENTINE’S DECOR

Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary materials at your disposal. This project is quite simple, but having everything ready will make the process smoother.

If you have a heart-shaped cookie cutter, you can use it as a template for your hearts. However, if you don’t have one, don’t worry. You can easily make your own template in a few simple steps.

Take a square piece of paper and fold it in half to create a triangle. Then, draw half of a heart shape on the folded side of the triangle. Make sure the heart’s size is what you desire for your garland.

Next, cut out the heart following the outline you’ve drawn and unfold the paper. You’ll have a perfect template for your hearts.

Make some small cuts on the edge of the heart (optional) so that when you start covering it with thread, it won’t roll. These cuts help secure the thread and prevent it from moving.

This is optional, but I’m sharing it with you because it worked better for me than when I didn’t make the cuts on the edge

Begin wrapping the heart with the thread until it’s completely covered.

If you want your hearts to appear thicker, instead of cardboard, use a piece of foam and do the same – trace the shape, cut it out, and cover the heart with thread. This way, you save material and achieve the desired effect.

After finishing covering the heart, hide the end of the thread with hot glue and intertwine it with the other threads.

To give your garland a different touch, how about adding some tassels? To make them, you can use something as simple as a scrubbing sponge. Wrap it around about 50 times, then cut a piece for tying.

Insert that piece under the 50 loops and make a tight knot to ensure they don’t come loose.

You can use the same piece to tie it to the garland, or you can also repeat this step of cutting a piece of another color as shown in this tutorial, where a purple one was added.

“Wrap the thread of another color around the object about 5 to 6 times, following the pattern shown in the following picture. Once you’ve completed these turns, securely tie off the thread at the bottom, as illustrated in the photograph. Finish this step by carefully trimming the portion of thread that extends downward.”

Now that you have your wrapped hearts and tassels ready, cut a piece of thread to the desired length of your garland and arrange the hearts and tassels in the order you want.

Then, you can use hot glue to attach them to the back of each heart, and for the tassels, simply tie them to the thread and cut or hide the excess inside the top of the tassel.
